Below is a book, currently published only here, on parts of which the pastoral approach of The Joyful Shepherd Retreat is based. Permission is granted to download this book in whole or in part. Permission is granted to use any of the ideas in this book.
N.B. Readers of this book, please keep the following important caveat in mind:
The retreat is only based on certain sections of the book. Not all parts of the book would be suitable for use in a retreat. Some sections, especially Sections 2-4 of Chapter One and Chapter 6, contain objective factual evidence meant to demonstrate how far the normal pastoral life of the Church is from being able to fully release the power of the sacraments. The evidentiary nature of those sections and their didactic style make them unsuitable for use on the retreat.
Still, all retreat team members need to be aware of the seriousness of our current pastoral weakness. Reading this book can help them see that as well as help them understand the theology behind the retreat’s pastoral recommendations.
